Jiffy Group will display our growing solutions and engage in education and networking at the Canadian Greenhouse Conference at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Oct. 4-5, 2023.
Come say hello at Booth #505, where we will help you discover how you can incorporate our products to streamline your operation, utilizing automation while achieving sustainability goals.
Select the perfect Pellet for your lettuce grow
Our Jiffy Pellets present superb growth of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) crops such as lettuce. We offer Jiffy Pellets in organic OMRI-listed and low- and high-pH options to extend your versatility in your operation.
You do not have to remove lettuce seedlings from Jiffy Pellets, so you can save on labor and water use while avoiding transplant shock and root disturbance.
Let’s look at some of the features and benefits of our Pellet options:
- Jiffy 7 Pellets, also known as The Originals or J-7s, use peat to nurture strong lettuce propagation and growth. Jiffy 7s provide leafy greens seedlings with optimal aeration and water retention.
- Jiffy 7C Pellets utilize coco pith instead of peat, have a high pH, and are certified by Dutch non-profit foundation RHP.
- 7Cs are also available in Carefree formats; Carefree Pellets expand quickly and completely 30 seconds after the addition of temperate 70-degrees Fahrenheit water, accommodating water-intensive crops such as ornamentals, trees and woody plants.
- Jiffy Pellets are available with plant-based polylactic acid (PLA) netting, a lightweight, fine-fiber web that is renewable, sustainable, and 100% fossil plastic-free. PLA netting does not degrade in CEA, nursery, or greenhouse settings, further demonstrating how lettuce growers can use Jiffy Pellets to execute hassle-free crop cycles.
Easily propagate snapdragons and cut flowers
Are you looking to efficiently and effectively root cut flowers or snapdragons? Uniform and ready to go right off the pallet, Jiffy Preforma Plugs quickly and securely root flower cuttings.
Suited to easily withstand mechanized and manual handling, Preforma allows you to keep business costs down, minimize waste and maximize timing in the propagation of your ornamental crops.
Options in plug pH levels provide you with the ability to accommodate certain plant variety pH needs. Snapdragons, for example, require a pH range of 5.5 – 5.8 pH range, which squarely fits within our standard Preforma blend of 5.5 pH (+/-0.3). We also offer a low pH version of around 4.5.
Growers using Preforma can also easily manage pH by adding fertilizers as needed. For example, add fertilizer in petunia production to accommodate the high end of these crops’ 5.4 – 6.0 range.
Using Preforma Plugs, you can avoid excess watering as your ornamental flowers roots develop. Preforma creates a bonded liner with 30%+ porosity, providing your roots with an optimal moisture content that prevents them from rotting or drying out. Additionally, the plugs’ high aeration helps prevent pest issues such as fungus gnats and algae.
Incorporate sustainable practices while establishing strong roots
Since Jiffy Group introduced Jiffy Pots to the horticulture market in the 1950s, we have continued to develop the product line to increase both crop production and sustainability while offering competitive pricing.
With decades of incredible customer testimonials and research data behind them, Jiffy Pots present an ideal solution for growers seeking labor savings alongside stronger rooting. Jiffy Pots can be planted directly into the ground, so you can rest assured knowing you will not encounter transplant shock or fluctuations in root-zone temperature. Furthermore, with new de-stacking features, Jiffy Pots withstand mechanical handling.
These are some other environmental benefits of our Jiffy Pot product line:
- The Jiffy Pot Original is home-compostable, allowing end customers an environmentally friendly benefit to eliminate waste.
- Our Jiffy Pot R2 and Jiffy Speedypot are 100% biodegradable. Speedypots are great retail-friendly pots for reducing plastic waste that also allow you to add your own branding and POS requirements to the label.
Jiffy is excited to introduce its newest additions to the Jiffy Pots segment, the Jiffy Pots 119 and 122, which are manufactured in Canada. These innovative Pots are eco-friendly options designed for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). With their strong designs and great rims, these pots fit well into automated processes.
