Why Did We Start a Food Safety Program?
First and foremost– every year, approximately 600 million people suffer and 420,000 people lose their lives because of foodborne illnesses caused by consuming unsanitary food, according to the World Health Organization. Additionally, research and knowledge on food safety and growing media are lacking. We wanted to play a major role in identifying risks in the supply chain–as well as take preventive measures toward food safety for our customers and end consumers.
Our ultimate goal is to work toward zero-contamination risk with market-relevant solutions that meet our customer’s unique challenges.

Here’s How Jiffy’s Food Safety 7-Step Program Works:
1. Starting with high-quality raw materials
Every step starts with the selection of premium raw materials. All raw materials undergo strict, risk-based suits to ensure they are free from risk contaminants. Inputs such as peat, coco, and other substrates are evaluated against the highest international food safety and quality standards.
2. Focusing on controlled and certified processing (according to ISO 22000 standard)
We follow HACCP protocols to identify and mitigate critical control points–and we also follow stringent environmental protocols during storage, production, and transportation.
3. Monitoring our activity frequently and meticulously
In collaboration with selected labs, Jiffy follows international protocols to deliver fast and reliable results. Our materials and packaging are regularly evaluated for possible biological, physical, and chemical risks.
4. Developing partnerships with our customers
Jiffy offers tailored workshops on microbiology and food safety practices. We follow a proactive assessment approach to address unique agriculture operational challenges. Plus, we continuously gather feedback from growers to refine our processes and offer technical support.
5. Offering a food-safe product line

We actively work to reduce our environmental impact during production by using biodegradable materials, such as coco discs and responsibly sourced peat substrates.
7. Communicating transparently
Jiffy's systems offer full traceability by tracking the origin and journey of each and every production batch. We also offer regular reports and updates on our food safety and sustainability initiatives. Plus, our newly formed global and local food safety teams frequently evaluate food safety journeys.
