In celebration of the Jiffy Pellet anniversary, we are proud to highlight the remarkable journey and evolution of Jiffy Pellets, which have been at the heart of successful crop propagation for 60 years. From the Jiffy-7C and Quick Soil Mix (QSM) Pellets to the Jiffy Coco Disk, our innovative products have consistently delivered superior results for growers worldwide. However, among these, the Jiffy-7 (also known as J-7) stands out as one of our earliest <\/strong>and most iconic <\/strong>offerings.<\/p>\n

Invented in the 1960s and originally produced in Stange, Norway, the J-7 pellet has played a crucial role in the success of growers by providing an open-wall, net container and media all in one. Over the past 60 years, more than 16 billion J-7 pellets have been produced in Stange, helping growers achieve optimal aeration, water retention, and excellent root development for a wide variety of crops. Today, the J-7 continues to be produced in Canada and Sri Lanka, maintaining the same core benefits that have made it a trusted choice for generations.<\/p>\n

The Effectiveness of Jiffy\u2019s J-7s Help Growers Worldwide Stay Competitive<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Growers from tree nurseries to vertical farms consistently rely on J-7 pellets because they are easy to work with, economical to ship, and can transplant easily in containers or straight into the ground.<\/p>\n

Evan Van Slooten of Vans Pines Nursery in Michigan<\/a><\/u> switched his operation completely to Jiffy as this has helped them transition into greater automation and keeps them competitive on pricing. \u201cThe nice part about the Jiffy system is, because it\u2019s well self-contained, it\u2019s easier to produce automation. So as we develop more and more automation, and reduce our dependence on labor, that will allow us to actually produce more and more of these plugs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jiffy J-7 Pellets Are Versatile to Suit Growers\u2019 Unique Needs<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Not only have J-7 pellets served as highly successful propagation solutions\u2013but they are also available in many options.<\/p>\n

In terms of size, the expanded pellet diameter ranges from 18mm to 73mm, and the expanded height varies from 35mm to 190mm.<\/p>\n

Jiffy also works with growers to offer customized solutions. For example, when Uehre Gartenland required a taller J-7<\/a><\/u> to ensure the right root-to-shoot ratio\u2013the Jiffy team helped extrapolate the 36mm x 100mm pellet size to 42mm x 125mm so that they could thrive with the company\u2019s bigger seedlings.<\/p>\n

Jiffy-7 Peat Pellets Are Compliant, Clean, and Sustainable<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Long before sustainability was a buzzword, Jiffy has worked to produce solutions that were not only effective and versatile, but also sustainable, clean, and compliant.<\/p>\n
