Jiffy Group, a global leader in the growing media sector, today announced that its 1Plant production plant is now fully certified for food safety management. 1Plant, Jiffy\u2019s flagship substrate facility, gained ISO 22000:2018 certification in August 2021. It is the first substrate facility ever to achieve this feat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Substrate itself is not food, of course. However, it is used to grow much of the produce we eat. That makes food safety a crucial factor, especially for raw fruit and vegetables like berries, salad greens and potted herbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1Plant ships 650,000 m3 of substrate to growers worldwide every year from its location in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. Many of its customers are in the agri-food industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1Plant produces dozens of specialized Jiffy Substrates. These solutions are the preferred choice of growers thanks to Jiffy\u2019s consistently high standards and expert advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new certification is proof that 1Plant is doing its utmost to protect consumers from a wide range of chemical, biological and physical contaminants, including plastics, vermin, and pathogens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ISO 22000:2018 is the world\u2019s most stringent food safety certification. It is sought after by top businesses throughout the food chain. Becoming certified means 1Plant demonstrably meets its tough standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To comply with ISO 22000:2018\u2019s requirements, Jiffy evaluated all of 1Plant\u2019s production, storage, and transportation processes for potential hazards. A new management system now monitors all identified risks to raw materials and products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jiffy\u2019s production facilities in Denmark and Sri Lanka are already ISO 22000:2018 certified. Its remaining locations are all to be certified by 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
