Gerberas are normally propagated from tissue culture. The sensitive material is rooted in agar before being transplanted into a product like our Jiffy Preforma Plugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#e3000f\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>The next step<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seedlings can now be propagated in Jiffy Pots. Gerberas destined for the cut-flower sector are then transplanted once more. The final containers should measure about three liters in moderate climates, and five liters in semi-arid conditions. At this point, the plants require relatively coarse growing media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#e3000f\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Protection from sugar rot<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coarse structure is key for the initial development of the taproot.
