{"id":2749,"date":"2021-10-20T11:58:02","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T09:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jiffygroup.com\/de\/?p=2749"},"modified":"2021-10-20T12:11:51","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T10:11:51","slug":"jiffy-group-announces-two-new-circularity-targets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jiffygroup.com\/de\/nachrichten\/jiffy-group-announces-two-new-circularity-targets\/","title":{"rendered":"Jiffy Group announces two new circularity targets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"h-\">When we launched our Sustainability Report &amp; Five-Year Plan at the beginning of 2021, one of our key targets was to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Increase Jiffy\u2019s contribution to the circular economy through our raw materials &amp; products.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was our statement of intent while we clarified how to contribute more to the circular economy. We have since developed various initiatives and built a clearer picture of where to focus in the coming period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-targets\">The Targets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this process, we have set the following specific targets to support our circular economy ambitions. They will ensure all locations are actively working on these important improvements:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>100% of plastic products and packaging to be easily recyclable by the end of 2023<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>50% of plastic packaging content to be produced from PCR (post-consumer&nbsp;recycled) material by the end of 2025<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-supporting-plastic-recycling-in-horticulture\">Supporting plastic recycling in Horticulture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These new targets confirm our intention to increase our use of recycled plastic. We support the reclaiming of \u2018waste\u2019 plastics, reducing the risk of those plastics contaminating the soil, ending up in the ocean, or being burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These actions will reduce Jiffy\u2019s virgin plastic consumption by more than 1,000 tons per year. And significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our plastic packaging and products. They contribute directly to UN Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13, 14, and 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-enabling-growers-to-close-the-loop\">Enabling growers to close the loop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We confirm&nbsp;our intention&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jiffygroup.com\/sustainability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to support our customers\u2019 sustainability journey<\/a>&nbsp;by making all our plastics from materials they can easily recycle. This will enable growers to close the loop and allow the plastic to continue to be a valuable part of the circular economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 80% of the plastic used in Jiffy\u2019s products and packaging materials are already easily recyclable \u2013 we are now searching for alternatives to convert the final 20%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Let\u2019s work together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Jiffy is a leading global supplier of growing media.
