Conifers Nursery

Maximizing your returns

Conifers are a slow-growing crop. They can take six to 12 months to be ready to be brought to market. That means each plant represents a large investment in terms of your time and money. They should be carefully nurtured in the right growing media to maximize your returns.

Solutions for Conifers rooting

Young conifers are usually started off in trays or crates. Plugs in trays work best for Conifers. They can be transplanted to P7 or P9 pots once they reach the right size. Crate-grown conifers are destined for planting in the field. For best results, the roots should be bare when they are mechanically planted, so the substrate is shaken off at this point. Jiffy adds sand to its conifer mixes to make this process easy.

Choosing the right substrate

The substrate’s structure and water-holding characteristics are vitally important for this crop. It should be neither too wet nor too dry to avoid mold and root problems. Jiffy’s substrates have the right structure and fertilizer levels to ensure your conifers thrive.
