Raspberries & Blackberries

From open field to growing media

Raspberries and Blackberries were once mainly cultivated as a field crop. But farmers faced problems including diseases, poor soil quality, and high labor costs. High-quality growing media can help solve these issues. That’s why more and more producers of blackberries and raspberries now favor growing solutions like containers filled with loose substrate.

Two-cycle cultivation

The woody crop is cultivated in two cycles: the first stage is long cane production; the second stage is fruit production. For this high-value crop, it is common to grow the long canes elsewhere than the fruit. Mother stock production takes place in the field, on growing media (bedding), or on coir growbags.

Jiffy’s range of solutions

We recommend Jiffy Substrates and Growbags for mother stock production. Our Preforma Plugs and Jiffy-7 and Jiffy-7C Pellets are well-suited to growing long canes. Then ensure the highest yields by using our substrates and Jiffy Coco Discs for fruit production. The Coco Discs can be delivered with a predrilled, labor-saving plughole for your convenience.
